Performance issues - super slow load times on both iOS and Android

What load time is currently expected for our mobile apps ?

On my iPhone 14 pro, my app takes on average 8 seconds to load. An 8-second load time is significantly above the industry standard, and risks high user drop off rate.

For comparison, on the same phone, Airbnb loads in 2.5 seconds, booking.com loads in 1.5 seconds !

Now, even worse, on my Xiaomi Redmi A2, my app always take over a minute to load, and often times, it even breaks Android, I get the error “interface has stopped working” and I need to force quit the app.

I don’t see myself releasing my app to my users with these load times :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

For reference, my mobile app is currently published in the stores and it is a Massive SPA wrapped with buildnatively, it loads in 2 seconds on my iPhone, 20 seconds on my Xiaomi, 3x faster

I just got my native app into the app store. I downloaded on 6 different devices (all iphones) and the first load, on first open, was indeed long. I timed it on 4 of the devices and all were between 11 and 30 seconds to get past the splash screen,

The oldest device took the longest (iPhone 12?)

however, all loads after the first one were much faster. 3 seconds to 6 seconds.

All tests were done off wifi and on cell.

are you talking about initial load to get past splash screen?

All loads (whether initial or next ones) to get past splash screen take around the same time

I could live with our iOS speed, but our apps’s Android, OMG, it takes a solid 30-40 sec on the splash screen before going to index view.
I hope and pray this is resolved before June 10th launch

I’ve noticed that @vella.mathis.pro Kowl app loads under 2 seconds on my iPhone 14 pro. Is there something special you set up to achieve this ?

Yep can we upvote this discussion, super relevant :raising_hands:

Yep. It’s dealbreakingly slow.

Is this load speed a new problem? I can’t see that it has come up before. In which case perhaps it’s a temporary bug that needs to be fixed? I’m about to publish my app and this does sound like a dealbreaker if it can’t be fixed, and also very embarrassing for the launch in a couple of weeks

@gundrooa For android, its not a new. I have had this problem since day one. iOS is way better. Hoping this is fixed before June launch
