Hi everyone! Has anyone been able to customize the sound of notifications sent via PWA apps?
I have a client with a couple thousand users that already uses Progressier push notifications, as well as Whatsapp notifications but insists on stopping the whole development to build a native app from scratch just to handle this, and to not have issues with Apple.
They don’t need a single native app feature. Having a native app would only double the time for maintenance and issues with b2c users, as those are pure clueless with tech
I’m really trying to avoid that, as I’m tired of changing roadmaps all the time. I’m dropping them if they follow through with this.
There’s a janky way, but it only works on Android and isn’t reliable enough to go that route in my opinion.
They do know, even with a native app, the user still controls the sound, right?
Also, their saying not having problems with Apple is laughable. Apple is very strict about push notifications. They’ll review things if you send too many…get reported for spam, and on and on.
Are they talking about a Bubble native app? In that case, give them an estimate.
They want a coded app? I mean, an app from code would cost them in the mid-5-figure range, and that depends on what they want.
They could use Twilio and just do sms…yes, it’s more expensive than push, but also more reliable and the user can have sound on.
But no, there is no reliable way to do what they want with a PWA
