for example, I have a sidebar, that I always want to be there.
Depending on what the user is doing, the page could be 500px long or could be 1500 px long.
How do I ensure that the page length is dynamic? And the user can scroll up/down if the page content is longer than 1?
Most of the options are covered in this threads:
I also had thought there was no difference between the two.
I think it works for floating groups because when they are overlapping each other, the responsive settings of the fgs do not affect each other. However, if groups are overlapping, their responsive settings will interfere with each other and be difficult to manage.
As a comparison, here’s the exact same page setup with the floating groups converted to regular groups (the height doesn’t collapse in the same way):
Thanks to all that have helped with this very useful thread!
How would you go about doing something like this:
Three groups stacked on top of one another.
Group 1 height is 100vh
Group 2 y position starts where Group 1 ends
Group 2’s height is also 100vh
Group 3 y starts where group 2 ends
Group 3’s height is also 100vh
And I assume you’ll need to release the scroll as mentioned above.
I have a similar issue but hoping there is a much easier way to do this rather than the approaches in the above linked posts.
I posted about this in another thread I started and hope somebody may be able to chime in on it. Basically want repeating groups that expand and are set to fixed number of cells for pagination purposes to allow the page to height to decrease as the page width increases.
This is because on page width expansion the fixed number of cells R.G. gets shorter in height and then the pagination and footer elements have large gaps from the R.G. bottom.
Any input would be much appreciated.
@duke.severn I got a new issue now as I continue to progress on this portion of the app.
I have set things up so that the repeating group has no fixed width and when the page expands and shrinks the repeating group follows suit perfectly.
The new issue is that I am wanting to use pagination on the page. I have the repeating group set to show the search results. When I design the page the pagination group is at a certain Y coordinate, which is set accordingly to be relative to the repeating gro…
I found an answer…leaving breadcrumbs for anybody in need of solutions
@sridharan.s thanks for the ideas. I actually got helped out by @duke.severn on this subject.
The key was to have a group that contains a repeating group, and other elements as seen in the element tree below.
The “main group” ( in my example : Group Favorite Gifts ) has the following setting to make sure it can be expanded.
I set mine to max width 800% so that the repeating group would expand to many different columns when the page is stretched.
Then the repeating group…
