Saving bubble app to phone home screen works much faster

Hi Everyone!
I’ve noticed that on my iPhone when I save my bubble app to the home screen (though Safari) the app works sooooo much faster than when I am using the app in the Safari web browser.

Is anyone else experiencing this? Does anyone know why this would happen?

Thanks!

Only thing I could think of is that Safari is caching the page and opening the previous session versus opening a new session if you’re navigating to it directly on Safari.

Otherwise, it’s using the same set-up to load the URL.

Sure does. It try’s to imitate a more native app type experience for the pages. Keeps a cached version on hand

This is nice to know! I will definitely check this out… :+1:

I would expect this too but it actually loads new information quicker. So it’s retrieving the data from the DB quicker. This is the part that makes no sense to me.

Hey great to hear it!! @bubblealex

Can I ask how you did it?
You made a pop up on your app for your users to click it and make your app save in his home screen?
If so, would you mind sharing how you did it?

It’s actually nothing to do with Bubble. In safari on an iPhone you click the Share button at the bottom. Then scroll down and click “Add to Home Screen”. This lets you save any web page as a “native” application.

Also make sure in the settings of your app, in the General tab you check “Hide Safari UI Component”.

Hey!! I was asking more precisely how this could be achieved!

Would be great to send our users a little pop up inviting them to save the app in their homescreen.

It would be a better UX solution to it!

Oh I agree! I’m not aware of how to do this from a bubble perspective
