Showing layers within elements tree

Nice work in naming the steps on the workflow boys. Can I make a UX request- is it possible to make it more obvious which layers are shown in the elements tree? the icons are just too light and drive me crackers almost every day. Can you make it obvious at a glance which layers are on/off. Thx

And showing a small picture inside the box instead having to hover to see the picture?
