Hey everyone, I’m using the integrated Stripe plugin.
I am making a payment system where a student books a coach. They pay me, then I handle the payment to the coach using the “Transfer to seller” action after the lesson is complete. But I am curious what happens if I put the lesson price as the amount to transfer inside the action. Is this before or after Stripe’s cut? Basically:
User pays: $30
I get: $27
Amount set to transfer to coach: $30 or $27?
Ofcourse it’s 27 because stripe will always charge it’s fees, irrespective of when you start a transfer
That’s not what I was asking. After the purchase I have $27 in my account. When I go to transfer to the coach, does it take $30 out of my account, or $27?
This will mean, user pays $30 to you, then YOU pay the seller whatever you want, which if that is $30 or $27 is literally up to you to decide.
What you put inside of the transfer has NOTHING to do with Stripe. Stripe is not managing your system for you, which means, they care nothing about where your money comes from or how much money you are sending to a seller or for what reason you are sending money to seller. The ONLY thing Stripe cares about is your instructions on who to send it to, when to send it and how much to send.
Stripe takes out only what you tell them to take out via the instructions from the action of transfer…if you tell them transfer $5 they would, or $35 they would so long as you have it in your account.
It is up to you to tell Stripe how much to transfer. Stripe doesn’t attempt to calculate things like that for you since every business that uses Stripe will have their own monetization strategies.
