Hey Jason, I’m about to implement a “user data backup to CSV” system… I’d love to hear more about how you have implemented that!
Sure Antony, no problem. So for my users some of the most important data is their student data that they enter as well as their schedule data.
I allow them to download their CSV files to “back up” their data. I even allow them to upload it too as a nice feature. I think this makes them feel like they have more control of their data.
I just let them download the user friendly data that they need to see. Names, emails, phone numbers, etc.
Check out the built in download to CSV function that bubble has in the workflows.
Hope this is helpful. If you have any other questions let me know.
Interesting that you let them upload to control their data! You should teach a Udemy course on this @J805. I’ve thought about this for certain types of data, but I do get worried about the end user making mistakes with their data files. How do you validate the data is correctly formatted?
P.S. This thread has evolved to a good new topic.
Thanks. I didn’t realize it would be something that bubblers would want to learn.
To help them with formatting I let them download a csv file that has the formatting already set and then they just need to “fill in the blanks” with their own data.
It is quite temperamental though and also has a limit of how much can be uploaded. I try to explain that to my users. If they are determined to upload to save time they usually figure it out.
Downloading the csv file is a lot easier though and for backup purposes it helps to calm some people’s anxiety of using an completely online program.
I might try doing some more videos soon. Especially if everyone finds them helpful.
Blockquote If you’re worrying about this, I have a top 10 things to worry about.
Ashley’s TOP TEN, What happens if…
#10 … I run out of milk, mid cereal bowl pour???
#9 … upon returning home, I discover that my elevator’s on the fritz?!?
#8 … I just lay my head on my pillow after a long day of programming and realize, just as I drift off to sleep that it’s garbage day and I have to drag my sorry butt outta bed and take the flippin’ garbage out???
#7 … I break a ski landing badly after an epic jump? (been there, ski the rest of the day on one ski!)
#6 … I jump on a surf board inappropriate for a beginner and stupidly paddle out to the big boy waves in Indonesia, only to discover that I forgot to take a breath before the first of a series of monstorous waves attempts to mangle my love of the sea forever?
#5 … I drunkenly crawl out of a cab, discovering I’ve left my phone in the back seat?
#4 … The bubble team decides to return to the planet Praxis, unbequeathing (is that a werd?)
Omg, lol
Nuclear war is a real risk for everyone, we talk about infectious diseases all the time, many of these have a one in thousands of chance of killing you. Sadly a worldwide nuclear event happening this century is way more probable, unfortunately New York would be a key target in a nuclear war.
However the bigger question is what about our businesses/startups? If you start getting users and then get sick or your house gets flooded what will happen to your business?
