Wow... It's dead here, huh? Is Bubble dead?

You could ditto the whole summary for what comes out of the RFP stream. Maybe 1 in 100 ISN’T some form of “I want a clone of some ultra popular app”.

I suppose I’m new as I’ve only been using bubble for about 6 months but I have a full time job also with no coding background
I have spent only about 2 days out of every 9 in that period learning and using the old responsive engine by default as this was available at the time

I did try the new one but step by step and it blew my head a little as I had upgraded my index page so had to have extra pages to continue with my app

Anyhow I found a combination of videos and reading definitely reading a great combination so far and I’m beginning to think during the day of how stuff fits together. Oh one other important thing was the lessons available on the site to help with getting used to the interface

I can see why people without coding background have found it less interesting as they probably don’t have enough time to learn something that does take a little to wrap the head around it like learning a new language no matter what.

But I’d say one of the main reasons it seems dead is the fact that people are either trying to build something and only need to chat when they have something to share or they need help

I am hopefully one third through my app which I was told could take 6 months by a freelance bubbler

The time needed to concentrate does make a difference too because if you work also then you just don’t get the hours to sit think try out the ideas on screen and as someone who gets a lot of free time at work I still cannot take the time on bubble that’s needed and then all the other issues like forgetting what your were doing and have to process in your mind over and over again the details of how your app will work which can slow some down but this can give you a good understanding too as you will repeat yourself a lot.

Overall it seems that most people could get on well with bubble.

What a great rundown of the Forum situation Mike!

I think it’s time to reorganize the subforums so that beginners can post common questions, or like Stackoverflow, have a minimum of contributed replies before someone can post to the more popular subforums.

StubbleFlow?

I think it would be good if something was done – even a simple “forum rules” to try to improve the quality of what’s posted. Something to limit posts where the answers already exist on the forum or in the Bubble manual or training videos. And also something to encourage those that have been helped by the forum but haven’t yet helped others, to pay it forward…

The situation you illustrate is a huge pet peeve of mine. I’ve received a lot of help from this forum over the past few years, and have invested $$$$ in great tutorials as well. It’s frustrating to see so many of the same questions asked over and over again that are covered in most of the tutorials.

Seems to me people want other people to do all their work for them and want it for free. It’s also frustrating when I run into a problem that is way beyond basic but there’s no response. Likely because the basic questions are filling up the question feed.

Yep - I’ve invested countless hours on learning, and also $$ on coaching. I’ll always google/search forum etc first before I ever post any requests for help. Most things have been asked before

I’ve also paid forward a lot of help on the forum as well when I can  But I find people do want a hell of a lot of help for free.
