One of my central pages (USER SETTINGS) is completely wiped. I had like 40 pop-ups, and 50 text links to those pop-ups, ALL GONE!
It’s just a blank page. I was working on this page a night or two ago, despite restoring up to my 48 hours,… it’s just gone!
I had to restore my Live page to an hour ago, and thankfully the info is still there, so my users lost an hour of work - but compared to my years of work I’ll take the heat from them.
So now I’m stuck painstakingly coping my elements from live back over to development and re-doing a lot of the workflows. FML!
I’m not a new bubble user, I REALLY doubt I deleted all my Overlays, one-by-one to the tune of 40 times without realizing it.
Is anyone else experiencing this!? I’m freaking out! If I lose 5 years of work I’m not sure what I’ll do.
Yes, I can only go back 48 hours on my plan, but I recall working on it recently. But like I said, I think I’d notice deleting EVERYTHING one-by-one off my page. It’s not like everything was in a group.
@greg7 I just want you to know that you “aren’t crazy”. I recently experienced exactly the same “phenomenon”. Bubble has a BIG subtle bug somewhere and I hope they can find it. You might want to send in a support ticket and reference the ticket # in the screen capture below.
I was literally working on the page when mine completely disappeared on me. The ticket referenced is from last week when I reported the issue.
@fede.bubble I’m good as I had a clone/copy of the page. I just wanted to let @greg7 know that he is not the only one to have experienced this. Thanks for the follow-up @fede.bubble
As for future issues, just a reminder you can export your entire app as an app.bubble file. Doing this once a week or creating a little script to do it on your behalf daily would allow you to at least never lose 5 years of work.
Beside downloading .bubble file often, run it through Bubble Documenter. It will generate the human readable version. This will at least give you a way to trace back what have been missing. And with 50+ pages, I bet there are many unused elements and redundant stuff. The document will help you spot this. This is one of the very reasons why we create it for ourselves to use.
Hi @greg7 my tenuous theory as to what causes it when I have two browsers open editing the same app at the same time, and my guess as to what happens is the merge of edits doesn’t work perfectly. It’s not something I can recreate… most of the time I think I just miss-remembered editing something.
The export and save of the Application can be automated daily with my product PlanB.
You get your app and data backed up permanently and remotely in AWS (EU or US) that you can download anytime.
You have to add a collaborater to your app with minimal read-only access - as that is how the app log in and takes the export. (then zips, dates, and saves it AWS for future download) I just added this feature - it seemed sensible to backup both the app and the data.
@lindsay_knowcode, Dude! I 100% had two or three browsers open and was copying UI elements from a style guide page to other pages. Very very insightful! That makes total sense. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts! I’ll be sure to be more careful moving forward.
I know that’s not the case here, but this week, because I had two plugin editors open in the same plugin, I lost around 40 created fields that I was working on (yes, I know we received this alert occasionally due to keeping multiple tabs open) .
But although I’ve never lost things in the app’s editor, by keeping multiple tabs open in the same branch, I’ve noticed strange behavior like issues appearing in one tab and not in the other, other times being literally kicked out of my own app when trying to merge branches, things like that.
That they’re “escalating” my ticket to someone else, then 3 days later I get another message saying it’s being forwarded to another team,… etc etc.
I’ve been able to recover / redo my work so I’m not too stressed. I’ve gotten ALL my support from the forum thus far - and that has been great. So thanks everyone!
It is my very tenuous theory to explain how it could happen. It’s easy to conceive how having multiple editors making changes to effectively the same datasource could get messed up. It can happen with any web editing
