Anyone else losing work in the editor?

It’s just gone. All the popups, groupfocus elements, and all other elements gone.

But not really gone, apparently.

I create a new sub branch, restore an older version of the parent (broken) branch, then manually copy over the old version of the page or reusable to the new branch…then remerge back to the parent branch, and suddenly there are duplicates of all elements!

This started happening four days ago.

Anyone else experiencing this?

a known bubble bug. apparently from “poor internet connection” and using multiple tabs for the editor

I’ve reached out to support to log the issue several times but no fix yet (reached out over a year ago)

I regularly have work that I’ve done go missing. Just have to redo it. Annoying as hell but there’s no way I could work out of 1 editor tab. (I’m often copying and pasting from other pages, looking at other pages styles/layouts etc)

That’s very interesting. I have about four editor tabs going at once. I’ve only just experienced this now.

To be clear, this goes away if you use a single editor tab?

supposedly - I can’t confirm as I’ve never been able to use just 1 tab for the editor

I hardly ever open multiple editors of the same app. Only on rare occasions.

I can vouch that I’ve never experienced this issue at this scale over the last few years.

Only some minor work loss due to a disconnect that I did not notice.

Quick update:

I’ve tried using a single editor instance and the problem recurs. Randomly a page or resuable will lose all elements.

When it happens, Bubble will still render it sometimes on the pages that the reusable is used, and other times not. It’s random. Maybe some caching thing on their side.

Issue still with support and escalated.

Solution is not to use a single editor. This is something else. So if it’s happening to you, stay tuned.

Hi! I experienced similar issues. The editor started showing “glitchy” behavior, some elements were not saving or showing correctly. Once the large group of elements seemed to disappear completely, I re-made it from scratch, and then found it hidden deep within another group (I did not put it there!). The loading time became too long.
I discovered most problems resolved when I:

  • broke complex pages into smaller pages. When there are too many workflows and groups on the page, the editor start working with delays, and that causes glitches.
  • stopped working constantly with multiple tabs open. sometimes I do open a parallel tab to do copy-paste, but then I close it and do not keep open.

Same thing has been happening to me now and then, too.

Recently a reusable element randomly disappeared on a page.

Hopefully the changelog thing they announced will help troubleshoot why this happens.

I’ve changed my workflow so that I make “sub snapshots” of pages and reusables after I make changes. That is, I make a clone and tag the time and date in the name.

So a reusable named: “User card” would be cloned as “User card 10:16am Jan 17” after I make changes to the User card reusable. so that if the editor randomly deletes the content of User Card, I have a backup.

Before I deploy, I delete all the sub-snapshots.

I have to do it this way because you don’t know when exactly Bubble randomly deletes your work, so you can’t roll back to that time - and even if you did, you’d lose all the other work you had done since then.

It’s tedious and infuriating and imperfect since Bubble seems to be randomly deleting other content, but it’s what I do until support gets back to me and/or engineering fixes this issue.

The support team responded to me with a log information that everything was deleted at a given time (most likely to be the time where I had an editor error displayed).

There was one thing I missed, though: the editor will allow me to roll back to any given time, even though I don’t have a save point. So I did that and could get it back without loosing two days of work.
