Browser Performance when using Editor

I have using Chrome mainly (latest) ( didnt turn on the save memory function as my pc has huge amount of RAM )

BUT I still facing these issue :

  1. When using Bubble API Connector, quickly the interface, input, the page become “low FPS”, very low, very lag (chrome, edge)

  2. When using Editor on some “larger” project, on same tab for too long. The tab would run out of memory. (chrome, edge)

  3. Before the tab run out of memory, it will showing sign of getting slower. unresponsive. (chrome, edge)

i know this might not the big issue, as… we still can edit. but Bubble.io is now a >600m worth brand…

I will switch to other browser like opera, brave for further testing.

Have u guys have similar issue?

It’s been like this for years. It’s annoying but I just refresh every once in a while.

To combat this in large single page apps build “pages” of the SPA as reusable elements. It helps a ton with bubble editor speed and app organization.

Also chrome is a memory hog by nature. The more chrome extensions you have the worse it is as well.

Safari is my favorite on my M1 MacBook Pro for bubble editing due to much better ram optimization and speed. Firefox as much as I dislike it as a browser also has good ram optimization. I’m not a windows user but Microsoft edge surprisingly is always in the top 3 for ram usage optimization.

Only time I use chrome is if I specifically need a bubble chrome extension.

actually i quite like how Chrome utilize RAM.
Most “RAM Saving” Browser = Eco Mode ( like car )
Chrome are actually in Performance Mode. Good for High Percomance PC.

All RAM Saving method = paying cost of performance.
But High RAM usage = Performance Gain.

because there is NO WAY, it utilized less resources for running same page, but gaining more performance. ( Chrome team is not that sub-par )

We were talking about this today. I can appreciate the slowdowns on big pages but the crashing claiming “out of memory” when I’ve got 40+GB of free memory is annoying.

Here’s my screenshot from today where I triggered a crash by having two editor tabs open and switching between data/workflows/design in the editor in a fairly reasonable way.

Goes from 20GB to 15GB when it crashes. I have 64GB physical and 20GB of swap on a PCI-4 NVME drive. Shan’t be running out of memory. Some kind of browser limitation or Bubble issue. Happens on all browsers and also on my M1 Macbook Pro.

@aj11 suggested disabling hardware acceleration in Chrome earlier today, and now that I think about it, I don’t think the app has crashed since I did that so maybe give that a try. I’ll report back once I’ve used it some more, I can’t recall if I did anything heavy after making that change.

EDIT: Nevermind, it still crashes with hardware acceleration disabled.

Putting heavy things into reusable elements also seems to help.

the only solution i guess…

Bubble Editor become a standalone software.

I guess there is a hardlimit on browser which 1 tab can request. (my guess)

Have you ever tried the Brave browser?

Worked wonders for me, incredibly fast and responsive with Bubble.

I tried everything on Windows … same result … the only one wish i have less memory issue is with edge…
I’ve 32gp on each computer and Ryzen 9 processor on each also!!!
Chrome impossible in 2 different computers and 2 different kind of Windows version.
I have this problem on every app (single page brand new, big app multipage , ) …
Chrome doesn’t work with me …
we need a bubble software, we work with this tool it’s not a toy and every day this is annoying …

did your App run smooth in ANY browser??

( not edit, run as user )
