I agree this would be helpful (or to have ‘collapse’ checked on all groups by default). In the meantime, you can edit all of the groups at once by searching for the groups on the page:
Then click the tiny, “Edit These Elements” text:
This brings up the Property Editor for all of the Groups on the page:
Then you can scroll down and select:
“Collapse this element’s height when hidden”
Then scroll back up and click “Apply changes to elements”:
That will make sure all of the groups are set to collapse
