Deleting public files/URLs

Hi all. I uploaded some files in a file-formatted field of a table, with no privacy settings/rules created, and not attached to any entities. This added files in my file manager, and created publicly accessible URLs in my file field of that table. I now need to delete these files and URLs so that they cannot be accessed by anyone online (I will be reuploading them as private files attached to certain users). I’ve tried deleting them from file manager, clearing the URL from the field, deleting the table entry, combinations of all 3 of the previous steps, and setting up workflows to delete specific entries. So far it seems that I can successfully delete any of my private files, but can’t for the life of me get rid of the public files - even when the entry is deleted and the file is no longer in my file manager, I can still access the file when I paste the URL! Can someone please help me?

Hi
You’re having this issue because Bubble saves files to it’s backend storage using AWS S3. You need to delete the uploaded files using a workflow instead.

We can hop on a quick call so I’ll show you how.

Amazing! Thanks so much for getting back to me about that; what’s the best way for us to jump on a call?

We can use Google meet. I’ll send over a link when you’re ready

Files are probably cached by S3 and will eventually expire after some time. The links will no longer work.

S3 doesn’t always load files from the origin. That’s overkill.

Hi, sorry for the late response! I’m free to meet any time tomorrow between 8:30 and 16:30 AWST. Let me know if that works for you or if another time is better
