Displaying unique elements in a searchbox

I’m building an app where the content type is work instructions. Work instructions are divided into departments meaning each department has a bunch of work instructions.
In my homepage, I included a search box where we can search for departments.
In the seachbox it is showing
production
production(1)
assembly
assembly(1)

Please let me know how to remove the repeated department names in the searchbox.

You can create a option sets with the list of departments.
