In bubble i see many tutorials which basically drag and drop the elements and then manually expand by drag on the mouse over the edge but why i have to manually write the number in pixel? Is it because I have the free version?

Welcome to the Bubble Community 
They are just old tutorials. If you make the container element ‘fixed’ then you can can do that I think still. It’s just not the way to build nowadays.
You should make your containers column or rows most of the time and then use the minimum and maximum widths. Very rarely use fixed width.
