Is it possible to allow users to right click on elements (buttons/images) and open link in a new tab?
I’m guessing the only way is recreate all elements using links. However, I’m interested in a quicker solution if one exists.

Using styled links is the default answer to this, sorry to say. Interface elements that you want to act like links need to actually be links. (Navigate, as you know, isn’t the same thing, though sometimes that’s what one wishes it was. A new action — “act like a damn link” — would be useful, I guess!)

Imo, EVERY element should have an optional URL field where we can make it a link. Not being able to open elements in a new tab using the Navigate function in a Workflow creates a poor UX for a lot of users.
