From Idea to Partnership in one week: New Podcast Episode is here!

Hey everyone!

Our newest episode of our brand new podcast just dropped and I wanted to share a little bit about it here in the Showcase as I am consistently proud of our community and everything our members do.

In this episode I had the pleasure of speaking with Brent Summers, builder of GiveLocal, who created a community-focused Bubble app to let people buy digital gift cards to help support their favorite local businesses. As we chatted, Brent shared how he got his start building and teaching Bubble. He also tells me how he went from launching his app to scoring a major partnership with USA Today, all in one week. It really is a remarkable story. So be sure to tune in and let me know what you think!

Sounds awesome, @erik.bubble, but when I visit the link…

Good catch- should work now!

Great episode, both. @brentsum, if you don’t mind I have a couple of questions, please.

  1. I assume that version 2 is also on Bubble. You mentioned that the USA Today dev team had a bit of input. Did they jump in and use Bubble themselves or did they just give you ideas that you and your partner then implemented yourselves?

  2. I’m curious as to what the dev team at USA Today thinks of Bubble. Were they already aware of it? Did they seem impressed by it etc?

  3. Finally, version 2 and even version 1 of the app seem pretty snappy. Any tips for the community on speed and optimisation? I believe you mentioned elastic search. Was that easy to add to Bubble? I don’t think there’s a plugin for that yet.

Thanks for sharing.

@erik.bubble v2 seems to be built on Word Press? Inspecting the page source, I don’t see Bubble assets anywhere. Or is the back-end on Bubble?

Either way, fun to watch these. Keep it up. :+1:
