Get data from page URL

Hello,

Does ‘Get data from page URL’ function only work under live conditions?

Lets say under Development version, I have a sample page set to show the users name in the URL (Page’s type of content is set to ‘User’ | Field for readable URL = ‘name’)

I set a text box to ‘Get data from page URL’ > Type:Parameter > Parameter name: ‘name’ > Type:text

But I get nothing in return.

Wondering if I am naming the Parameter incorrectly or if this only works under live version.
