I am having hard time with managing all the items with Responsive mode.
The Footer keeps becoming odd and I dont like its look. Page goes all weird and fixing one thing, makes something else go haywire. Too many settings to deal with on each item, too many conditions.
Is there a way, I can just create a entirely different version of a page,
say for a tiny screen : page1-iphone, mid size: page1-ipad, and the default page: page1-bigscreen etc.
Hence if I land on the index page, and the user has
a small-screen (phone etc.), it automatically goes to a pre-layed out page suitable for the elevant screen size?
I used Adobe Muse, and it was done that way, three different versions of a page.
I liked it. It allowed me to create really nice pages for each size, very quickly.
Now responsive may be a good thing for many users, but for me I am wasting a lot of time on it. It would be so much easier to create a fixed page, layed out exactly the way I like, maybe even with different header and footers.
I love the fixed mode of design in Bubble. It is is really wonderful.
My brain works better in this mode.
I hope so. It would allow mostly newbie, such as myself to be able to create something useful quickly. And I can leant Responsive slowly and not get stuck here for weeks!
Here is my current effort: www.mntcaslte.com
Any helpful comments most appreciated.
Believe me, change is always difficult. That’s how it was when Bubble launched the new responsive engine, a general fuss, many complaining about the change, some complaining that they would have to rebuild their apps, but today, ask anyone who has experienced these two moments of Bubble, the new responsive engine is a blessing.
Again, changes are not easy and it takes time to adapt, but there is no comparison in the benefits of using the new engine over the old one. Try to adapt little by little, there are very good videos on YouTube, where you can acquire basic and even advanced knowledge about things related to new layouts, manipulation of elements, new properties. etc. Also, it would be somewhat possible to do what you suggest, but think on the side of making things easier, even for you.
Creating many versions of the same page, each with its own conditional rules, would mean that you would have to replicate many things, such as workflows, and for any maintenance or new implementations, you would have to do this on all pages. When you could just have an adaptive (responsive) page.
It is very likely that the time you would spend replicating your fixed layout pages and adapting them to each device would be much longer than learning about the new responsive engine. And this knowledge would continue to be useful in all your projects later, as long as you keep using Bubble. And even if you migrate to another platform in the future, both this knowledge of responsiveness and other knowledge acquired when using Bubble will serve as a basis for adapting much faster to any other nocode and even low code tool.
Yes, I see all that.
However, I also think that the responsive Engine on the big scale makes all website look like as if they are made from a template. They all have these boxes all lined up.
I think it is causing all websites to look at the same.
You’ve seen one, you have seen them all.
A little more work means a website that can be like creating a painting, and not a fixed Excel like a canvas forcing everything in a cartesian space.
Bubble Responsive Engine is too clunky. The footers and headers that do not take their values from the page and many other non-intuitive ways of behaviors one is faced with.
It could be a lot better.
To have a specific design for the page when loaded on a mobile device, select a page from this dropdown menu. Because the URL remains the same, this is transparent to the user.
