Hi @adam26 and @zeta1119 thanks for your patience. Downloading/saving to PNG should now be working properly. Please let me know if you notice otherwise!
I also still have the same problem. Altough it seems to work with some images, and with others it doesn’t. Are there any limitations for the images on the “Add image to canvas” workflow action that I should know about?
File type, size, dimensions, …? I cannot identify when it works and when it doesn’t. Mostly it doesn’t, though.
Info: I recently upgraded to a new plugin version. Before I used an old one for a long time, and there it always added the images without any problem. Maybe something changed in the meanwhile?
Thank you for looking into it!
Hi @zeta1119 and @adam26 , we’ve pushed another update in v1.55.55 that should hopefully fix the issue. It’s currently working on the demo page here.
Can you all update to v1.55.55 and let us know if it resolves your issue?
It works now! Thank you. What was the problem, whet it suddenly stopped working?
Hi @adam26, great to hear it’s working properly for you now!
The issue was due to the CORS proxy we’d set up having an expired token. However, we’ve migrated to a more reliable way to keep the images generating.
Please don’t hesitate to reach back out if you have any questions!
It definitely seems to work better now. I still can’t open all images, but at least more than before.
In order to identify why I cannot open all images:
Can you please tell me if there are **any limitations for the “Add image to Canvas” workflow action? E.g. file size?
Another issue: When I edit a 1 MB picture in the Canvas and I just add a text element and a small logo picture (140KB), the result png becomes 6 MB. This is a problem (1) for my storage, (2) for when I use it for posting on social media.
Can you please explain to me where this sudden increase in file size is coming from, and how to avoid it?
Thank you in advance!
Actually, it would be really great if we could have the option to save the image as JPG. Then the file size would automatically be much smaller and better for posting via APIs to other platforms. Is there any way you could implement this?
@zeta1119 Hi there, I hope you are doing well.
I think that large images and extra elements can cause file size increases in Canvas. To reduce it, try exporting as JPEG, lowering the resolution, or using image compression tools like TinyPNG.
Issue Summary: I’m experiencing an issue with Canva serialisation where element positions and sizes don’t match the saved layout when reloading the project.
Details:
- When I click Submit, the Canva project is serialised and saved, and a preview image is generated. In the preview, all elements appear in the correct position and scale.
- However, when I reload the saved Canva project, most elements (especially images) have shifted positions or changed sizes, causing misalignment compared to the original preview.
- This issue has been particularly persistent today, forcing me to manually adjust elements to match the original saved layout before printing.
Uncertainty: I’m unsure if the error happens during the saving of the serialisation or during the loading process.
Goal: Ideally, we want the serialised data to accurately reflect the original layout every time it loads, without needing manual adjustments.
It might help if you could:
- Check the serialisation and loading functions for any inconsistencies in position or scale attributes.
This should clarify where things are going wrong and guide potential fixes.
Hi again @alex4
If you could please provide any info on why is canva having this issue thanks.
This is getting worse.
Hi @palateandcraft thanks for reaching out. We’ll take a look at the issue you’ve reported and get back to you.
Hi, thanks @mustafamteck for your response. I still think it’s weird that the size increases by a factor of 6, only because of one small additional element?! As I said: 1 MB picture + 140KB picture = 6 MB png. Any comment @ajl5 ?
And can you please share how to export as JPEG? I’ve never seen this option, that would be amazing!
External image compression tools are not an option for us, we need to have the process inside our app.
Cheers!
@zeta1119 thanks for following up. We will add this to the items we’re investigating this week as well!
hi, to follow up with this. any updates?
Hi @palateandcraft thanks for following up! This is on our backlog. We will reach out when we have more information.
