First of all, I think AI is almost there but not yet. In about 6 months it will be twice as good as it is now so I think we are then close to being able to build almost anything in an easy way.
Personally I have mostly build complex backends in Postgres with pure AI. I also have done some test for html pages which is already very good.
Mostly using ChatGPT paid version and Claude.ai of which Claude is in most cases the best
But, also, 100 and some years ago economists were predicting by today weâd have more horse manure on the streets than we would have people to handle it all.
In the meantime, letâs not try and reinvent the wheel.
I think the UI will be totally different but that apps keep their place simply because it takes to much time they to handle all use cases with AI on the fly. But in a few years that will probably change as well. You would have a persistent layer on which AI operates I think
Definitely donât sell it to Google or else it will be dead within 3 years. I actually think Apple, OpenAI or Jetbrains (maker of IntelliJ IDEâs) would be the best acquirer.
I will also say that Bubble is really underpricing themselves. Iâm surprised they havenât yet raised their prices. They could easily triple their prices to $99.99 and while most developers would complain, almost none of them would leave. To be honest, they should be charging as much as CRMâs are charging, so around $299.99 per month. They could then take this money, hire more people, and improve the infrastructure and core product exponentially. This is why I actually think Jetbrains would be a better acquirer since they already make IDEâs, followed by Apple. Apple would probably expand offerings while screwing developers though.
Huh? Software is reaching peak commodity. They canât raise prices, and may need to lower them. Just because AI builders suck right now doesnât mean theyâll still suck in 3 years.
Bubble is basically one of the cheapest and fastest ways to go from semi custom no code development to functioning process. They are grossly underpriced for what they offer. Hell, just look at Adobe, they charge no less than $50 per month for each one of their products but bundle them.
Again, a lot of people will complain, but itâs not like they have many competitors right now. Bubble for all itâs annoyance is one of the best. And I say this as someone who tells people, if you can code, donât bother using bubble or no code for commercial projects.
Bubble absolutely could charge $100 per month tomorrow and very few would cancel. They can take that money and actually hire people to fix and improve the platform. I think $300 is the top end though but imagine if they were able to open up mobile app development, and then VR/AR development, desktop development, maybe even mobile game development. Itâs a bit ambitious, but you get my point
90% of the userbase is on the verge of switching to AI tools. Bubble has plenty of competitors now. Bubble actually had competitors even in 2016, they just werenât very good (noodl). The cost of code is rapidly converging to 0. Bubble already has an insane markup compared to cloud services like Vercel, which already have an insane markup from cloud services like AWS, which themselves have an insane markup compared to VPSes. Thatâs ignoring the extreme price gouging with Enterprise, where the minimum they charge is $3K a month.
