Scheduled Maintenance on Wed, Sep 24

Hi everyone,

My name is TJ, senior engineering manager on Bubble’s Platform team.

Scheduled maintenance on Wednesday, September 24,2025:

On Wednesday, September 24, 2025, from 10 AM to 5 PM ET, we will be performing scheduled maintenance to deploy a new load balancing system. This upgrade is designed to better route traffic, which will improve request latency and remove a major source of past downtime.

What to expect:

We anticipate a smooth process, but there is a chance this will temporarily cause degraded performance during the scheduled window. Because we can only confirm results of the change under production conditions, we’ll be monitoring the process extremely closely throughout the day for any errors or changes in performance and will roll back if any issues arise.

Thanks for your patience as we undergo this critical work!

TJ

PS: you can read more about our work with Balancer here: Performance issues / test live issues [Sept 19] - #40 by tj-bubble

That is terrifying. :grimacing: I hope it will work well.

I guess that addresses my question. That’s sooner than I was anticipating.

Looking forward to it!
:+1:

Team will be on top of it every minute and ready to roll back if any metrics start to look unhealthy

Sounds great, thanks for the heads up. Hopefully everything goes smooth

Now is a great time to send that email blast to your users

@saviorabrams For real though, we keep an ActiveCampaign list of admins and managers for the businesses that use our software, and if we’re ever having Bubble issues then we’re still able to reach them outside of the Bubble ecosystem to notify them that we’re aware of an issue with “one of our service providers” and that it’s being worked on, etc. It’s been super handy to have that set up ahead of time and has saved our bacon more than once! And it’s not always Bubble’s fault, sometimes is a Cloudflare thing or AWS. Just a good idea to have an external method of reaching key people in an emergency without needing to provide an uptime dashboard status page.

Is this why I can’t load my app? 10:45 - 10:52 UTC+1 (so far) apps are unavailable.

> Your browser was unable to load the application data. We’ve been notified of the issue. Please try again in a few moments and make sure not to use ad-blockers.

You’ve given 1 day’s notice. Can you review comms workflows for the future, ideally an email to app editors so we see it and can prepare for potential downtime.

edit: 11:28 UTC+1 everything seems to be working again. I did create a ticket when I originally posted.

Looks like you guys might have bumped into our dedicated server, too.
I created a ticket

Not sure if related but one of my apps is throwing a net::ERR_CERT_AUTHORITY_INVALID. only one mind you. they other are dandy. Never had this in the last 6 odd years so though it worth making a note for anyone else. Rasied a ticket

Scheduled work doesn’t start until 10am EDT so none of these reports could be caused by the work explained above

I am seeing and receiving reports of table elements taking an unreasonable amount of time to load data, which is also causing the application navigation to freeze and the app to subsequently crash. I have submitted a bug report and posted another thread here: Table Elements & General Performance Issues - tables are taking an unreasonable amount of time to load and my application is freezing

Same Issue on our App since afternoon of Sept 23.

Since these issues started before this scheduled maintenance, we believe it is unrelated. The team has opened a separate triage to investigate these table issues

we have had very slow display times since yesterday. Was performance degraded from this even yesterday?

Does your experience match this?

If yes, I recommend you submit a bug report to be added to the current triaging around this behavior

I don’t know about you but for now I haven’t had any interruptions or various problems.. let’s hope well!

Update (Sept 25)

Yesterday went perfect. Based on those results, the team will officially roll out the updates today and will continue to monitor during business hours that all metrics continue to look healthy

Great, roll back please
