Set Custom State in Reusable Element stopped working?

I reported this to Bubble yesterday but wanted to verify that others are seeing similar behavior or maybe I missed a step? I have done this before but haven’t used it in awhile.

I added a Custom State to the very top of the tree in my Reusable Element. I added that reusable element to a page and in a workflow, I’m attempting to update the Custom State in the attached reusable element.

I can’t see/find the reusable elements custom state. I create an action in the workflow of the parent page to Set Custom State, but I can’t search/find the Custom State for the reusable element. I can find the group it was attached to but no reusable elements show and no custom states appear. I also don’t see any of my reusable elements in the tree list when searching for the custom state. I can’t remember if the Custom State is supposed to appear on the attached group or if the Reusable elements themselves are supposed to show and allow selection of the Custom State.

I don’t quite understand what you mean by “group it was attached to”, but yes, custom states defined at the root level of a reusable element are (or at least should be) accessible from the host element (which is typically a page but could be another reusable).

I did a quick test, and I can access a custom state defined on my footer reusable from the host page; so things seem to be working as expected for me.

If I’m misunderstanding, please share some screenshots of your setup.

I am going to venture to guess the custom state is not on the reusable element, but instead on a element that is within the reusable element (ie: child element of reusable) and when trying to access custom states of elements that are within the reusable, but are not on the reusable, it is not possible.

The Bubble interface changed recently so the icons are different in the Element Tree. I can’t seem to edit any higher than the level highlighted.

So I did a quick test and created a new Reusable Element with a Custom State at the top level. If I put that reusable element directly on my main page, the main page workflows can access the Custom State in the reusable. However, If I place a group on the main page and place the reusable inside that group, the page workflows cannot see the reusable’s custom state. Is that how this should work?

I did another test… See image below. If the reusable element is placed in the Group called “Left Buffer” I can see the Custom State in the reusable. If I put the reusable in any of the other groups below that, that have the different icon (two boxes?) I can’t see the Custom State in the reusable.

Anyone know what the icon means and why it is different then the Left Buffer group? I tried to change the group settings but nothing changes the icon.

LOL. I figured it out. I have no idea how my Groups that contain each of my reusable elements ended up as repeating groups??? They should just be regular groups, apparently that is what the dual box icon indicates that I missed. I will change them and see if that resolves the issue.
