So...when is merging versions going to actually be fixed?

Having multiple versions of the app is fairly critical for a lot of larger applications. 9 out of 10 times, doing any sort of version control where you merge with live never goes smoothly and causes tons of unresolvable conflicts and errors.

On Bubble’s Version Control page, the note, “We are investigating bugs that occur during the merge process - this can lead to unexpected behavior, especially for more complex merge situations. If you merge and you suspect a bug, you are able to revert ‘live’ (or a version) back to a previous point in time. Note that it’s also possible to copy elements / workflows / etc. from one version into another.”

…has been there for months (if not over a year, I just don’t remember the first time I saw it).

I haven’t seen a single update on this despite the feature being in production and just straight up not working. Does anyone have the inside scoop on when this might actually be resolved if at all?

Hi @viable,

Last we heard from the Bubble Team, they’re working on improvements to version control.

Refer to this post:
Version Control Reliability & UX

The initial comment about rolling out releases and fixes was in January (eleven months ago). Then a follow-up about a complete overhaul in July (five months ago).

Guess we’ll just wait and see. Would love to hear a more recent update from @nick.carroll on any sort of timeline.

Send me a DM if you want to get your hands on an alpha version, we should be ready to open this up next week
