Still No Seamless Live Updates — 13 Years Later?

Feature request: Deploying without the "This app has just been updated" banner | Bubble

This request — to allow live updates without forcing users to refresh or lose progress — was posted over 5 years ago and remains unresolved.

Common counterarguments, addressed:

  • “Just auto-refresh the page.”
This is the issue. Auto-refreshes interrupt users mid-task and risk data loss.
  • “Use autosave or plugins.”
These are limited workarounds that add complexity and don’t fully solve the problem.
  • “Other apps refresh too.”
Most modern platforms handle this gracefully — versioning changes, preserving sessions, and prompting users only when needed.

Traditional dev environments offer:

  • Zero-downtime deploys
  • State/session preservation
  • Controlled or deferred updates
  • A seamless experience for users

This kind of seamless deployment isn’t just a nice-to-have — it’s expected in any production-grade platform today.

When Bubble launched, 13 years ago, this limitation may have made sense. But in 2025, with more businesses relying on Bubble for serious, high-traffic apps, this really feels like a foundational feature that should already be in place.

It would be great to get clarity:
Is this on the roadmap? Technically difficult? Still under consideration?
The community would really appreciate transparency on what’s holding this back.

Thank you

From what we read, this could happen after mobile work. I think Bubble is doing test for that with mobile developmemt feature.
