Would you recommend registering and using stripe for free users who are on a free plan?
Or would you handle those appart from Stripe and keep Stripe only for paid customers?

What exactly would you be using Stripe for? (given that Stripe is a payment processor, and your free users won’t be making payments)?
The simplicity of having only 1 system to maintain on my end for both paid and free users (relying on webhooks, monthly credits, trial period…)
And the ease of use of having all my users in the same tool, whether for customer support / data & statistics etc… (we are not yet to the point where a CMS is useful)

That tool being the Bubble database?
no need webhook for free users, monthly credits are in Bubble if free users get a certain allottment, trial periods exist not for free users, but users who are on a trial period usually after having already provided credit card with expectation to pay after free trial is up, so not really a free user.

Ok ok, I most likely should have been more elaborate in my initial post and provide some examples.
Having free users without Stripe account works fine.
Having free users with Stripe account works also fine.
Both have pros and cons. And this is what I thought would be interesting debating - people sharing their pros and cons.
Here are my pros of having free users using Stripe :
- with free users being on Stripe they can get a monthly 0€ invoice, which could be good to reactivate them and bring them back on the product
- with free users being on Stripe we can automate upsell messages being sent based on the trial start/expiration date - Stripe does that
- with free users being on Stripe you can use the customer portal which can basicaly handle all aspects of the billing in 1 click (payment method / past invoices / upsell ) - Stripe does that, with the reassuring Stripe-branding
