Hi! I’m wondering, how can I take my bubble experience and turn it into some form of career? I have a pretty good knowledge of bubble now and I’ve been around for a good few years but I’ve not yet stepped foot into the realm of freelancing/employment with bubble as the main focus.
I seem to note that work is either beyond my skillset or out of reach due to others having more experience.
I haven’t used bubble in a setting for “money-making” really only for my own personal satisfaction and for spending time, but I’m getting alright now.
I’m not a programmer or bubbler by trade. I’m a contractor and I’m using bubble now in an attempt to build an app that I can use to run my business more efficiently, and if it turns out it’s useful to other contractors, I’ll sell them access to it as well.
In my trade, I need to understand the spec of what the customer wants, and know how much time and material (plus other subcontracted expenses) it will take to deliver. I can then quote them a price to deliver the product. Sometimes someone asks for something that I haven’t done before, and I need to take a best guess at what it will take. With customers that I have an existing relationship (most of them) I can just charge time and material because they know they are in competent hands (or at least accept my level of competency). With new customers, I need to usually give a firm quote or at least a range spelling out the variables that could effect it.
I imagine it would be similar for you. If someone (like myself) says “I have this page built, can you reconfigure it to work dynamically?”
or
“I have this app I’ve built and I’m using it, can you make it multi-user with various permission levels between users and then multi-organizational with silos between organizations, each with their own multi users and integrate a billing system for users?”
or
“I found this free plugin that has some flaws and the original developer won’t respond, can you make the changes to do XYZ?”
Could you quote that out?
These aren’t things I need right now, but could see myself asking for in the future.
I guess what I’m wondering is… If an opportunity were to come up, would you have the ability to present your competency and pricing accurately? That would be a good first step.
