Warning: Plugin Subscriptions not shown in Marketplace Profile

Today I received two emails about new plugin subscriptions. Both of those do not show in my marketplace profile where we are supposed to have been provided with the only tools available to us to track our earnings.

Best to keep hold of ALL emails from Bubble regarding any plugin subscriptions, purchases or cancellations so you can keep track of all these on your own and use the Bubble marketplace profile area to cross reference and enquire to support about all discrepancies that arise.

…and yes, if I have an ‘unsubscribe’ from plugin I do receive emails for those as well, so without receiving them today, my only assumption is that there is a Bug in Bubble internal tracking of payments, or maybe a Bug in Bubble internal system for emailing when a user unsubscribes.

Would be a lot better if it is just an email issue.

Over the weekend I got 5 separate email notifications within a span of 2 minutes about new subscriptions to exactly the same plug-in. That seemed unlikely, so I emailed Support and got a response from BubbleBot which reads in part…

So basically, I wouldn’t rely on email notifications alone as an accurate indicator of actual sales.

Thank you. I guess it’s gonna have to be monitoring all things, emails, metrics and the marketplace profile. For me, it was two different plugins within 5 hours. Both have emails received and usage statistic up by 1 but nothing in marketplace profile.

After 4 emails with support they now seem to grasp the request for support and have escalated it.

I think the single source of truth for marketplace sales is at…

…where each transaction is itemized. As I’m sure you know, a PDF or CSV of sales data can also be downloaded (if one wanted to generate their own graphs or analyses).

The emails are just a courtesy notification. (We all know that emails can be unintentionally triggered.)

You won’t see any evidence of a plugin subscription in your marketplace profile until the user’s next billing date.

For example:

  • Let’s say a user subscribes to one of your plugins on the 1st day of the month
  • The subscription cost is $8/month so $6/month net of Bubble fees
  • The users Bubble billing date is the 15th of each month

On the 15th day of the month when the user subscribes to your plugin, you should see a charge of $9 appear in your marketplace profile:

  • $3 pro-rated for the first 15 days of the month
  • $6 for the upcoming month

The emails themselves are usually pretty reliable for notifying you of subscriptions (even if you don’t see any evidence of it immediately in your marketplace profile).

Cancellations are more annoying. You’ll get notified if a user unsubscribes while still on a paid Bubble plan, but if they simply cancel their Bubble plan they’re automatically unsubscribed from your plugins. You do not get notified of this via email.
