Today was a crazy day with the whole pricing change drama. Time for a change of tune! I announced an upcoming plugin last week here. Today I am officially announcing the release of the whiteboard plugin. If you’d like to play around with it, you can visit the demo page or its editor. I also made a really quick Youtube tutorial.
In summary, the whiteboard is a collaborative tool meant to bring some functionalities you will be familiar with from figma and miro to your website. It works exactly how it should, like a whiteboard! In my opinion, the coolest thing about the plugin is that it supports templates. This is great for educational purposes. You can imagine a teacher importing a venn diagram template, for example. Very useful! Also, it’s really easy to setup. Checkout my tutorial if you’d like a quick summary.
I’ll let you guys play with the demo page. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
Enjoy
(by the way, I’m a freelancer. If you need help creating a custom plugin, or help with your app, send me a message!)
It’s not heavy at all, but it requires a stable internet connection because the drawings are connected to the server and are updated in real time. If you check the GitHub repo, you’ll see it’s all made with one short is file.
I think that it takes a little bit of time to appear on the plug-in page, but if you go into your app and search for plugins you’ll see it!
If anyone finds this plugin to be useful and they enjoyed, please leave a review. It really helps support me and encourages me to make more free plugins. Thank you
(Width is working) - but this is a generell thing i do not know to fix maybe has nothing to to with the plugin haha// - hight = same hight like view screen.
Thank you for the screenshots. About the full screen icon disappearing on small screen sizes, I am unsure if this is an expected behaviour of the API. I have sent an email to Nima, the founder of the API, about this very question. He should get back to me soon, so expect an update in the near future on that.
Triggering fullscreen with a workflow action is only possible if a function for activating fullscreen exists. I’ve asked Nima about this as well. If it does exists, then you should see this functionality in the next update.
The issue you are experiencing with the height not being fullscreen is a common gripe with bubble. You can use this plugin here and this forum post to help guide you
This update includes the functionality that you requested: the ability to trigger fullscreen inside bubble. A new action has been created to perform this task. Please refer to this video which explains exactly how to do that.
(Another Idea but not so important because there is a workaround: a “Share Publicly” link would be nice - right now i don’t know how to share it except if i build another own page for it. )
Unfortunately, I don’t have much control over this one
The name of the “board” is only reflected inside your account on the whiteboard.team website.
It’s so that when you are managing your boards through that website you aren’t confused about which one is which. I’m not sure how useful this would be, but I think that I can figure out how to name the board by developing a new “action”.
Would it be possible to add a feature where we could enable/disable certain features? How configurable is the API?
I’d like to use it so that the users could only use postit’s (and no other drawing function) and wouldn’t be able to resize them.
From both a technical and business point of view, I think disabling that many features is out of the question. At that point, it wouldn’t resemble the original product at all. I think what your looking for is something different, this tool is meant to be a whiteboard.
