👩‍🏫 Whiteboard Plugin [Free Plugin]

Good evening Bubblers,

Today was a crazy day with the whole pricing change drama. Time for a change of tune! I announced an upcoming plugin last week here. Today I am officially announcing the release of the whiteboard plugin. If you’d like to play around with it, you can visit the demo page or its editor. I also made a really quick Youtube tutorial.

To find my plugin, see the plugin page or my contributor page.

In summary, the whiteboard is a collaborative tool meant to bring some functionalities you will be familiar with from figma and miro to your website. It works exactly how it should, like a whiteboard! In my opinion, the coolest thing about the plugin is that it supports templates. This is great for educational purposes. You can imagine a teacher importing a venn diagram template, for example. Very useful! Also, it’s really easy to setup. Checkout my tutorial if you’d like a quick summary.

I’ll let you guys play with the demo page. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Enjoy

(by the way, I’m a freelancer. If you need help creating a custom plugin, or help with your app, send me a message!)

I didn’t see it on the plugin page? How heavy is it on the app?

Don’t see a use case for us right now, but this is an extremely cool plugin. Nice work!

It’s not heavy at all, but it requires a stable internet connection because the drawings are connected to the server and are updated in real time. If you check the GitHub repo, you’ll see it’s all made with one short is file.

I think that it takes a little bit of time to appear on the plug-in page, but if you go into your app and search for plugins you’ll see it!

Right? It was a risky move but I thought hey, there’s probably a ton of people on the forums right now. Perfect time to get peoples eyes! Haha

Thank you, it means a lot

If anyone finds this plugin to be useful and they enjoyed, please leave a review. It really helps support me and encourages me to make more free plugins. Thank you :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

hey so i use the plugin and i love it!

Stuff that would help us a lot:

Trigger fullscreen by workflow
Dynamic Hight by Viewport

The problem is - when the screen width is really small you are not able to click on the fullscreen icon cause it disapears…

Trigger full screen by workflow, hey? That’s a good idea  I’ll look into it.

I haven’t notice the bug when the screen size is small, the full screen button disappears. Could you post a screenshot of it here, please?

I’ll investigate right away!

Great work! Love the plug-in for ideation sessions!

Thank you for the positive feedback :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Here you see the fullscreen icon in the middle (Top Bar)

Here it is missing

Also any idea to get it to full hight?
Have the problem with larger screens like this:

(Width is working) - but this is a generell thing i do not know to fix maybe has nothing to to with the plugin haha// - hight = same hight like view screen.

Thank you for the screenshots. About the full screen icon disappearing on small screen sizes, I am unsure if this is an expected behaviour of the API. I have sent an email to Nima, the founder of the API, about this very question. He should get back to me soon, so expect an update in the near future on that.

Triggering fullscreen with a workflow action is only possible if a function for activating fullscreen exists. I’ve asked Nima about this as well. If it does exists, then you should see this functionality in the next update.

The issue you are experiencing with the height not being fullscreen is a common gripe with bubble. You can use this plugin here and this forum post to help guide you

@buero I have just released version 1.1.0

This update includes the functionality that you requested: the ability to trigger fullscreen inside bubble. A new action has been created to perform this task. Please refer to this video which explains exactly how to do that.

Thank you so much for your interest in the plugin :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

got another idea if interested

It does not make so much sense to set the name inside the whiteboard if you are not able to change it from outside the app or read it.

(Another Idea but not so important because there is a workaround: a “Share Publicly” link would be nice - right now i don’t know how to share it except if i build another own page for it. )

Unfortunately, I don’t have much control over this one
The name of the “board” is only reflected inside your account on the whiteboard.team website.

It’s so that when you are managing your boards through that website you aren’t confused about which one is which. I’m not sure how useful this would be, but I think that I can figure out how to name the board by developing a new “action”.

Let me know if this seems interesting.

Regards,

Hey.

Would it be possible to add a feature where we could enable/disable certain features? How configurable is the API?
I’d like to use it so that the users could only use postit’s (and no other drawing function) and wouldn’t be able to resize them.

From both a technical and business point of view, I think disabling that many features is out of the question. At that point, it wouldn’t resemble the original product at all. I think what your looking for is something different, this tool is meant to be a whiteboard.

Thank you for the suggestion!

Important info: Whiteboard is now Whiteboard Lite (same features, nothing changed)

And Whiteboard Pro, which grants more features and customization arrives today!
