Workshop + Hackathon in Nepal – Looking for Community Insights!

Hey everyone!
Last Friday, I gave an internal session at my company titled:

Idea to Prototype with Bubble.io: AI-Powered No-Code Platform

It went really well, and senior leadership gave great feedback. :raised_hands:

Now, we’re planning to take it further by hosting a Workshop + Hackathon in Nepal, focused on:

  • Final-year STEM students
  • Non-technical folks interested in building apps
  • And anyone curious about No-Code / Automation tools

Our Goals:

  • :rocket: Raise awareness of Bubble.io and other Automation Tools.
  • :handshake: Build a local No-Code community
  • :brain: Hire & train top talents
  • :repeat: Create a pipeline for incoming No-Code project requests

Would love your thoughts:

  • Have you run or seen similar events in your area?
  • Any tips on structuring beginner-friendly workshops?
  • Ideas for simple but impactful hackathon challenges?

Here’s a sneak peek at the slide deck I used for the session:

Would love any feedback or suggestions from the community — and open to collaborations too!

Thanks in advance

I have recently run a 4-5h Bubble workshop for non-initiated people in Spain:

  • ~25 years old
  • Master students of Marketing
  • Completely new to Bubble

This is what worked for me

  • I gave them a 30’ introduction to
    • motivate them to learn to “code”, by making an analogy with a superpower
    • explain benefits of Bubble over traditional code: faster iteration
    • explain the place of Bubble among the no-code ecosystem: it’s for webapps
    • explain what’s a webapp
    • explain the Bubble main components (noobs version)
      • visual elements
      • workflows
      • conditionals
      • database
  • Then a guided, step-by-step, hands-on ~4h session to replicate an exisiting app they are familiarized with.

What’s important

  • The session is mainly hands-on, so they leave with a first push
  • They have to complete a simplified (and working) version of an app they know, so they understand the power of Bubble
  • The session is necessarily slow, and guided, step by step, otherwise they’ll get lost and lose interest

I got a 4.8 out of 5 feedback from the students, and they were very interested on continue learning, some of them even contacted me afterwards for advice for apps they had started for their own projects. So, I know this strategy worked very well for me.

Congratulations for the initiative! I hope this helps!

Thanks so much for sharing @ademiguel — this is super helpful!

Love the “superpower” analogy and the step-by-step hands-on approach. Using a familiar app to build confidence is a great idea. Definitely taking notes on keeping the pace slow and focused.

Also, 4.8/5 feedback — amazing!
Curious, what kind of app did you replicate in your session?

Really appreciate the insights!

I replicated the main second-hand marketplace service in Spain, Wallapop, something they are very familiarized with.

I even make them replicate the UI so that they had the feeling they were creating “the same thing”, in just 4h.

That’s fantastic.. Familiar UI + functionality makes it so much more relatable for them.

Definitely going to try something similar. Thanks again for sharing this! :rocket:
