Hi there,
I am signing up for SendGrid so I can complete my domain setup in Bubble, but when I tried to sign-up, I entered my email and password, verified my phone number, and I was presented with adding a domain or skipping to dashboard, so I skipped to dashboard to look around, then was asked to login again.
Instantly, I got an email from SendGrid’s Zendesk system:
We appreciate your interest in Twilio SendGrid and your efforts in completing our account creation process. After a thorough review, we regret to inform you that we are unable to proceed with activating your account…
Not sure why SendGrid would have beef with my email address or phone number (which is all I gave them).
I emailed their support and they were quick to respond with:
Twilio SendGrid leverages many different verification techniques to reach a decision. Unfortunately, after careful review, we have determined that our platform is not a good fit at this time and your account will not be activated.
and then…
At Twilio SendGrid great care is taken when it comes to new sign-ups to ensure ongoing compliance with our Acceptable Use Policy and our Email Policy. This process is carried out to make sure that everyone is using the platform in accordance with existing policies and regulations. For security reasons, we cannot provide any additional details regarding this decision.
How can I be out of compliance before even adding a domain?
Has anyone else had this issue?
Thank you.
Are you using a VOIP number or a non-business email?
Added: Some sites require a business email. Not sure about SendGrid. They’ve got a lot of protections in place, I’m sure, because of past spam experiences.
Anyway, if you look through the forum, you’ll see a lot of users recommend Postmark. It’s also what I use, and I would recommend it over SendGrid. You may want to look into it. They have a plugin also.
Hope you have a great day and get your problem fixed

I used a Proton Mail email to sign-up, which is probably the reason it was flagged. I tried to sign-up again with a Google Workplace email, but I’m still suck in their login loop. I also tried a different browser. I’m guessing my IP, phone number, user agent, etc is now marked as high risk.
What’s frustrating with these larger companies is they refuse to be reasonable. You ask for a manual review, and you are met with strict no exception policies.
I signed-up for a regular Twilio account with my other business account and I was able to maintain that account without issues. They have a SSO to SendGrid from the Twilio dashboard, but again, it send me through a login loop. I opened a new ticket from my other business account.

Yes, I would say definitely the email.
Also, as you probably already know, those emails from support were no doubt just autoresponders.
I wouldn’t take the time to deal with SendGrid. I would suggest you check out Postmark. There are a lot of posts about it on the forum with a lot of good advice

I advise you to leave Sendgrid. I haven’t had a good experience at all. I’m with AWS SES and in addition to a ridiculous cost it works beautifully..
FWIW, I was able to get access to SendGrid by first signing up for Twilio with my business email, then SSO-ing into SendGrid from the Twilio Dashboard. I also had issues initially with this but Twilio support is far more professional and courteous (at least the agent I connected withn) than SendGrid support was.
Having taken a look at both Postmark and SendGrid, Postmark does seem more approachable. Feature vs feature, they are about the same. I do prefer the SendGrid visual template builder better (Postmark doesn’t have one unless you sign up for their marketing platform).
Decisions, decisions…

Happy you got it to work.
Do whatever you’re happy with. Everyone really has different ways of doing things.
I also use ClickSend instead of Twilio. Just a personal preference, I guess.
Either way, as long as it works and you’re happy, it’s all that matters
