Aviation Boarding Pass Parser [NEW PLUGIN]

Hi forums  It’s been a little while, but I have a new plugin for you all.

If you’ve ever taken a plane then you’re familiar with a boarding pass like this:

See that QR Code there? Well, it turns out that this QR Code (sometimes in the form of a 2D or 1D barcode, among other standards as well) returns a text that follows a certain standard called BCBP (Bar Coded Boarding Pass) as defined by IATA. This information is not human readable and must be parsed, which if done right returns connecting flights and all the flight details of the journey.

Why is this useful?

  • If you’re creating an application which scans boarding passes with either an Infra Red (IR) scanner or just a normal camera
  • You’re developing an application which reads / ingests / displays airplane boarding passes with Apple Wallet Passes using the Apple Wallet Pass plugin
  • Uses aviation boarding passes in another fashion

If this applies to you, you can now read aviation boarding passes just by passing the barcode message to the element action! It’s free by the way

Here is an example of how I’m using it:

  1. User uploads boarding pass from their apple wallet:

  2. They answer a few questions, and voila!

Have a great day,

Cheers
