I created a new application with a free template and I realized it was too much for what I needed and now I want to change it for a different one using the same domain name. Thought I could delete the old one and just use the name again, but apparently not. What’s the best way to go about this?

Unless you’re wanting to keep the domain your-app-name.bubbleapps.io then you can just go ahead and create a new app and then delete your custom domain from the old app and add it to the new one.
There isn’t a way to start with a new template on an existing app. Might seem annoying, but if Bubble allowed you to do this you’d run into all sorts of problems with your database, workflows etc that it just wouldn’t be worth it. Hence why that option isn’t available.
