Do emails have to go via Sendgrid or can you use your own smtp

It seems Bubble is geared up for use with Sendgrid, which I have never used. Can I use my own smpt server instead, and if so what are the downsides of that.

And if I did go with Sendgrid can I still have support@myowndomain.com coming through to me, or does everything need to come and go via Sendgrid?

It is perfectly possible to avoid SendGrid, yes.

We use Postmark via an API.

For things like the password reset, you can turn off the bubble emails and get the strings direct.
