[Feature enhancement] New elements tree with more powerful interactions and shortcuts

Nice step forward, however I’m not able to open the parent element to see all child elements. I’ve tried to use the chevron elapse/collapse icon and by right-clicking the element to reveal it in the element tree.

It’s taking me forever to find things now. Really annoyed. Can we please have an option to turn off the icons in the tree? The fact an item is greyed out is sufficient to know that it’s hidden. Why have an icon to ram it home? It’s just unnecessary fluff.

Also the option to go back to the old tree. This is so much slower. I have deadlines and I have to deal with just trying to find stuff I can’t find anymore. Nightmare.

Well, it seems like this feature has been released without testing because there is a lot of bugs and malfunctioning.

Another one here:
When you select the element through the new element tree it doesn’t select the element in the canvas anymore

Loving it so far! As someone who works with Ilustrator daily, I find the new tree it a lot easier to use and is easier on the eyes.

I do have a request that when I double click a hidden element in the tree, it will show itself on the canvas (similar to the previous version but on a double click instead).

Can’t wait for the new workflow editor!

I may have found a bug. I’m using a shape (small red circle) as a notification that is shown when a condition is met (hidden on page load). When I toggle the condition on, the shape will not appear - only when I click the new eye target in the tree. It functions correctly in the app, but not correctly when testing the condition. As I looked at other items that are hidden, but revealed when a condition is met, they will also not appear when the condition is toggled “on.” This is seems to be a problem…

You are not mistaken my muscle memory clicked and eys went to find the element inspector. If its already showing it will change but if not showing it wont pop up.

I don’t want to need to click the little eye icon. If I click on an element, like before, I want to be able to have it shown right away.

Also. while it’s true that clicking an element on the canvas it shows it in the tree hierarchy, but it doesn’t scroll to it, adding another action that I need to perform.

What would be even better is keyboard shortcuts for each visual element like what you see in Figma. This would help tremendously. But I appreciate the new improvements.

Of course it is always open to discussion but I feel like the product team always delivers its promise and breaks everything in the mean time .Yes I can now clearly see my groups and the content of it easily , but now I have to click 3 times to edit it .This was the case for other visual improvement before where you could see the little label tag in the mean time with crashing editor. I believe with user feedback you will solve it and I know you are listening to your community but the trust you lose will always be there

@kate.mcnally - Please provide sorting “Alphabetical Order” and option to increase the view area (Slider in between assets & elements)

That already exists, but it’s a very small tolerance (about 1 pixel) and should be increased. Probably just an oversight.

@bubble you’re doing great, but one step at a time only.

When doing major UI/UX overhaul can you at least provide some PSA for an Open Beta something we could opt-in / opt-out to see how it works.
Next would be to have an option to opt-in for this update or not, as other mentioned some things are broken and/or unintuitive.

Overall looks a nice improvement and move into right direction.
Thanks.

PS: Can you please work on Dark Mode that is quality first.

Thanks, Just noticed by moving around with pointer.

Noticed one more issue, previously if i click the popup it was showing, now i need to click the eye to show. So we move from one click to 2 click, Not a good move in terms of UX :frowning: Is it only for me or everyone ?

Sorry to say that I do not appreciate this change. I know over time I will get used to it, but it’s real-estate wasting way too much, distracting (unnecessary icons…), and most of all, when you click the element name, it won’t open property panel. Double click will open placeholder. Why don’t you make a single-click on an element name display property panel, instead?

Double click on the icon to open the properties panel.
