I currently have a RG with users and i want to be able to mark the RG tab that is clicked as “read” or “opened” and i have got that working now but i don’t know how i should design it…
The layout will be something like this:
I first thought about going the Facebok rout like thier notifications that are not read are some kind of colour and will look like this: Not opened:

Problem is i don’t like this design, been trying to google but i have no idea what terms to use. Does anyone have any design advice? Been playing around for hours and can’t seem to get satisfied…
Hi there, @Orbit… I don’t pretend to be a designer by any means, but for what it’s worth, I am not a fan of the colored rows for a number of reasons, maybe most importantly that it might not be the most accessible design for folks who are colorblind.
The above being said, what do you think about a small-ish circle icon with a checkmark inside it just to the right of the name, and the icon could have a hover that says “Viewed”? Anyway, that’s a thought that came to mind for me, and I think it might work from a user experience perspective. I’m guessing a real designer will come along with a much better suggestion, though, so you might want to sit tight until those folks show up!
Great idea, thanks! I took your idea and somewhat tweaked it, when you have not viewed a user there is a circle on the profile pic and if you have the circle is gone!
