Reasonable Alternatives to Bubble

WeWeb costs $1,500 /mo with minimum 12 month commitment before they will let you export your code, fyi

what alternative to bubble do you recommend for an event booking web app please?

Be aware that the folks at bubble are reading this and deleting everything that talks about alternative. Make sure to copy all links out because this topic might be gone soon.

I’m not aware of posts in this thread being deleted. Please let me know if you’re encountering that. We do prefer to keep the discussion of alternatives contained within this thread to make it easier to find information, but I don’t see any issue with having a respectful thread for people to explore alternatives.

Good callout. I’ll update that.

Sure, this one for example: [New Thread] More context on our changes to pricing - FAQs answered - #91 by cho

Or my own post which I cannot link anymore because it is gone…

Thanks for sharing. That post still appears for me, but the main point I was checking in on was whether or not comments in this thread were being deleted. I think it makes sense to consolidate all the discussions of alternatives into one thread (like the one we’re currently chatting in). It just makes it easier for people to find and participate.

Regardless of the pricing discussion, I’m just trying to make the forum easy to navigate and find what you’re looking for. If you’re looking for info on alternatives, this is the thread to be!

Hey guys, quick question, let’s say some of us actually move to another tool such as Wappler or FlutterFlow. What happens to our users if we rebuild our apps there ? Can we transfer their data and login details ? If yes, how hard is it ?

Still cheaper than Bildr ($25K per year)

Definitely include Noodl.net in your list.

I think exporting the data is relatively straightforward. The login details, however, are not. You’ll probably need to do a one-time “create a new password” type flow in your new system of record as we don’t have access to the user’s encrypted login information.

I have the ability to keep this open, and I intend to do so for as long as the discussion is productive!

It looks like flutterflow and wappler are coming out as top two platforms for use cases where Bubble may no longer be viable. Does anyone have a breakdown of the pros/cons of these platforms, it’s not a comparison I can find easily on Google.

I’ve played with Flutterflow, and it’s pretty awesome. The main difference is Bubble is a full stack solution, whereas Flutterflow would require a separate backend to build and maintain. Most people use Firebase because of the tight integration, but it isn’t an all-in-one solution. Flutterflow is building native mobile apps using Google’s Flutter framework and Dart language. Wappler is similar to Bubble in that the mobile apps aren’t “native,” they’re wrapped web apps.

Wappler is also good, but it is more technical and you’ll have to manage your own infrastructure. They make it easy with Digital Ocean droplets, and you can find a managed hosting provider to use, but it is more complex. It’s not impossible my any means, and depending on how “in the weeds” you wanna get, can be a great option for folks.

In both solutions, you’re paying for the builder, but not paying for the infrastructure or operation of the software once it’s live. Hope this is helpful!

Yeah you can export all your data as json or csv, then upload that data to whatever back end you choose. Alternatively I think Xano has some type of migration tool already in place if you choose to go with them.

Then you send an email to your users with a passive aggressive mention of Bubble and let them know that the next time they sign in, they will be asked to create a new password (which creates your user record on the new platform) then you would have to pair it with the email in your records.

There’s quite a number of videos and blog posts out there comparing bubble to both FF and Wappler. Granted all these will be done before the insanity of the price hike so you would have to keep that in mind.

Ah cheers, would you say Flutterflows web app capabilities are pretty close to Bubble’s? I know it performs better for mobile apps

To be honest, I’ve never looked at the web capabilities. When I was evaluating Flutterflow, it was for the mobile capabilities. I’m afraid I don’t have enough experience there to answer your question. Sorry!

no problem!

I’m actually leaning towards fluterflow with the help of chatgpt. But it seems I can’t find a good community like this bubble forum? As I can see, wappler have a similar community forum that is well active.

To all those who transitioned to wappler, it will be great if you can help us thru transition guides as well as best practices.
