Hi all,
This is less a bug and more of a User Experience improvement, I think. I just spent the last couple of hours trying to debug some privacy rules, when I finally noticed the text “Rules that use “This <Data Type’s>'s X’s Y” can’t grant search access right now” at the bottom of the rule.
For the record: I gather this rule has pretty much always been there and I understand the technical limitations on why it exists. Joins be crazy.
BUT, I was wondering if maybe the text could be red or something to better highlight it. I Also think unchecking the “Find this in searches” checkbox to additionally show that the search functionality is disabled at that point would also be helpful. The checkbox being checked was what especially confused me, since it indicates that I CAN in fact use search (but just couldn’t uncheck it).
Lastly, you might want to include it in the Privacy Rules video and maybe a section in the documentation about it as well as I don’t see it in there (though I could have missed it).
Anyway, no gripe on not being able to overload the DB with complicated queries. Just trying to help other people who also have run into this and were confused by why their Privacy rules didn’t seem to work.
Thanks!
