Hi everyone - hope you are staying safe from the virus
As countries go into lockdown, large numbers of self-isolating people are unable to get to the shops to buy what they need. We (a social entrepreneurship incubator, based in London) are pulling together an emergency team of volunteers to build a Bubble app which connects people stuck at home to others who can buy/deliver food/medicine from local shops for them.
This is a not-for-profit project: the outputs will be shared freely to be copied around the world. We want to launch an MVP in one country by the end of this week. We have good access to journalists and other resources to scale this thing in its first country (UK): now we need to build it.
We need several experienced Bubble developers to volunteer time to build the platform this week. Please let me know using this form https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeDofq5Gs1uvWxPuOJBSF2alWQal3KTvLevV-UzH2IRtlTG0w/viewform ) if you are interested and have at least 5 hours available this week to help. Donāt worry that the form says ābased in the UKā - for Bubble developers we can receive help from anyone around the world
The sorts of features we will build are:
signup & account management processes
process for users to specify what they need bought (similar to ecommerce)
payment processes (using Stripe Connect)
job acceptance process (for deliverers to review & accept local jobs)
waiting list feature (so people can only request help in areas where deliverers are registered)
GDPR compliance
etc etc
Wireframes will be provided, although they have been created at speed and itās likely youāll need to use initiative to create features which have not been fully specced.
If you have time this week please do consider getting involved - there arenāt many more urgent problems to work on!
hi everyone, this sounds like a really, really great idea. Iām part of a local Friends association of a school here in Southwark, we have a really diverse community, but there is lots of willingness to help to do stuff to help. One of the things weāve identified is being able to provide a forum, like this. So, Iāve been researching the usual ones, but then I thought of Bubble and saw this post. I guess what Iām saying is this is a great idea for deliveries/orders, but there is also a need for āhey, does anyone haveā¦ā spare toilet rolls, help with homeschooling issues, thereās a problem at such a such place, who can help do x.
We have these forums as a community, but they are not necessarily the right place for this, whatsapp groups etc are too siloed, but I also think if we can someway do it through the schools itās great local anchor to get it done.
Would be great to see the MVP and help in anyway. I have some time.
You can use my site to organize this effort the development as well
My biggest challenge now is to get volunteers and those that need help to signup. People are more comfortable using their existing channels even if that means more work with juggling spreadsheets and offline notes. Also many of those that need help are not as tech savvy
My covid19 help site https://www.19covaid.com allows both helpers and those in need to post requests and offers.
I looked at your templates and 3 of them appear to do something similar - upwork, bookins and appointments and gigster.
Which would you recommend and can I please have access to it?
I want to see if bubble is a better fit for my fast growing site
I setup my nextdoor group before I created the site. Most of these groups including facebook are so difficult to search with the long threads and nested replies. So I wanted to make something simpler. I think I have a path forward nowā¦
