I got a notification about my workload spiked. This makes me nervous because I currently do not have any users on my app. I am worried what will happen when (I’m being optimistic) I get Users. any tips on how to keep the workload low? It usually is around 1800-1900, is this normal? I am new at this and considering hiring a developer, but my funds for this project are tight. Thanks for any help in advance.
Sometimes a spike is just from 0 to 1,000. It just depends on if you app is being used consistently or not. 1-2k workload per day is still low. It really depends on a lot of things.
How many users are using your app when it gets to that amount?
How many users are you expecting to see?
Do you have loop protection on just in case you build a runaway loop?
These are just a few things to consider to figure out if you app is alright. The graph screenshot isn’t really helpful. We would need a screenshot of the entire page.
Its just me testing it out right now as a user. I hope to have at least 10 or so users. here is the graph area screenshot. I do not have loop protection. I have no idea what that is.
The spike alert is because it calculates your average weekly consumption. So if you consume 500WU in a week, then in a week you use 2000WU, it is a 200% increase in your average, triggering the alerts. You should be fine.
Yeah. You are still very low on workload. Those alerts can be scary at times but in your case it’s just because it jumps from 0 to 2000 but that’s still low. If that is 1 user, then you can just multiply that by the amount of users you think will be using your app and then you have a rough estimate about your workload usage.
Hey Georgia … Don’t worry. I have been in your position, developing an app with no real users and getting very worried about the WU usage. If you search forum you may even find my old posts about it.
Now after a few years, and over 10k real users - I am pleased to say my WU worries were totally unfounded…in fact I’m still on the starter plan () although will be upgrading soon.
The positive way to look at WU is it really does make users really think about the best/most efficient way to do something. For me optimizing almost becomes a fun game or challenge. The graphs bubble provide are really useful for helping you identify where inefficiencies may lurk and if you’ve not tried Buildprint yet I suggest you consider doing so as it’s really good at helping us discover areas which could be done better.
I do believe being “WU conscious” will help make you a better app builder all round, in the long run (and not just witha Bubble)
