Electronic CV builder - Love to hear your honest opinions

Hey there bubblers!

Let me start it with a little story first:
I recently realised I like to work with bubble so much that made me want to find my first job as a bubbler. Then I realised I’ll need to update my CV, and heck, I also need to show up some references too. So I thought to myself I’d do the two things at once.

So here we are today. A week later and I just finished my e-CV builder 1.0

  • It works fair (I think) on mobile and desktop
  • Still working on drag-n-drop repositioning
  • Landing page communication also need some more work I think
  • Maybe some paid features follow later such as: more CV’s on one account, “Message me” form, more design choices… I was thinking $12/year premium subscription but I’m not sure if it worth pursuing

I’d honestly love your opinion on every single bit of it!
I’m looking for feedback on the following topics:

  • Look and feel
  • Ease of use
  • Usefulness (can it be useful for others at all?)
  • Reason for existence (above my own goal)
  • Overall opinion of your own about any part of it

Landing: e-cv
My own e-Cv: e-cv

Thanks for checking it out! If you’ve clicked that link (even if you don’t say anything) you’re still a STAR! :folded_hands:

A very quick thought about visuals.

I get itchies when seeing default scroll bars. I think it can tear down a well worked UI and it’s so easy to change

Hahaa!
You definitely got a fair point! I’ll do some magic with it.

I’m still waiting for opinions about the builder.

Just realised no-one is going to register an account just to test it, so I created a demo user for you to play around. (Info added to my original post)

I’ll listen to any advice :folded_hands:

I’ll pose a business question: What incremental value is this offering that linkedin doesn’t offer?

My rec is focusing on a particularly underserved niche (e.g., software engineers needing to show sample codes, creatives need to show their portfolio, etc.) that LinkedIn is too broad to focus on.

It’ll also be difficult to replace traditional resume pdf/word because of ats filtering & optimization, having a separate e-cv (beyond LinkedIn) would just be extra work for people.

Better idea would be for people to enter information and you generate an ats-optimized resume pdf.

Thanks for checking it out and for taking the time writing your comment! Really appreciate it.

Against LinkedIn: Simplicity and focus in my opinion.
No distraction, tonnes of non-serving information.

Sure, companies will scan through applicant’s Linkedin anyway, but the most important information is here in a single link, without the junk around it.

Many people struggle to create neat-looking docs still and even I often get lost amongst my versions.

This product is meant to serve the simple people with simple goals and needs really and not the tech enthusiasts, like we are.

But still, your question is valid and the downloadable pdf is part of the plan, but I’d like to see if anyone would use it before putting time into that end.
