[Plugin Update] Full Calendar

@nick.carroll did this plugin auto update? - I don’t see a “can upgrade” or new version available?

One of our customers using the calendar plugin has not made any changes but yet the Calendar is no longer rendering!

Anyone else seeing this?

very cool!

@nick.carroll Thanks for the response. Use case is as follows:

App Category: Sports Games
Calendar events: Shows schedule of Games. Caption is X team vs Y team
Condition: when Game Type = practice, show caption as Roster name

It doesn’t seem to be appearing on my app either!

I have raised a bug with Bubble. My suspicion is they just pushed an update rather than allow us to choose to upgrade!

If I get a response from Support I will post here

Hi - the plugin did indeed automatically update to the new version.

will the theme, right now its the bootstrap theme from fullcalender, be customizable in the future? cause right now it does not look well in my design unfortunately :frowning:
the grey design before was way better and more neutral.

Thanks for the additional detail. One idea is to set your caption to be a field on the Game data type called "Event name " or something similar, and then run a workflow that updates the “Event name” whenever your condition is met. Since the calendar is populated directly from the database, you should see the new name in the calendar as soon as the workflow runs.

Hi David! Yes, we’d love to offer more options to customize the look and feel of the calendar in the future. The first step was getting the plugin to the latest version so all of the new functionality could be accessed!

@nick.carroll thank you for the suggestion. However, I was aware of those kind of workarounds to create a single field. But I was looking for a way to do this without adding fields or data.

Sorry but why? - This goes against everything the other plugins need to do and also against Bubble’s policy to allow us to have choice when we receive updates.

This has broken a customers APP and I suspect lots of people’s apps and we had no control over it!!

@nick.carroll, I’m sorry to say that the updates were a complete disappointment. I understand the point about getting to the latest version of the library, but I was holding off expectantly for the upgrade in the hopes that it would provide much needed features, but to no avail.

I’ve decided to use 1 of the other plug ins, as the Bubble option doesn’t seem to be going where I need it.

I agree. Considering the recent change in price scheme , I would expect the ability to grab start and end times of a selected calendar section

@jared.gibb I see you asked above how the Bubble calendar plug in compares to others. While I haven’t done a thorough review of all the other options, I can share that this free plugin is fantastic:

It is really just a simple plug-in to control the month and date, and then the UI is set up via a standard RG. This results in an extremely straightforward implementation and is totally flexible / customizable. After struggling for many hours with the Bubble plug in, I got this fully operational in under an hour.

My apologies for the confusion with updates. Some older bubble plugins were built differently than other plugins and thus don’t have the same versioning ability. In this case, Full Calendar is one of those older plugins. It’s not ideal, and something that we have in our roadmap to change, but given this change was mainly a background update to address numerous bug fixes, it is inline with the bug fixes and minor updates that go out daily on the Bubble platform.

I’m sorry to hear to the update affected a customer’s app. I’ve checked in with the team and it sounds like the user has been unblocked and we have an underlying fix going out shortly. Thank you for your patience!

I’m sorry to hear you are disappointed with the update. The goal of this release was never to address gaps in functionality, but to ensure the library was brought up-to-date. Now that we current, we can actually look into all of the feature requests. Thanks for your patience and please feel free to submit any feature requests on our ideaboard!

To all - it looks like the auto push on the Full Calendar plugin requires your Language preference to be set on your app (in settings) otherwise your calendars will not render.

Thanks to Bubble support for finding the issue.

Expanding on this, you can copy a Calendar UI from this Editor and use that plugin for the calendar dates, or in the Editor there is a Toolbox Plugin which generates the calendar dates a similar way:

Hey,

It is excellent that you update the plugin to the latest version. You should also take into account the functionalities that users ask for.

A long time ago I uploaded to the Ideaboard the idea of being able to put different event captions on each event.

And I think it is a functionality that several users need.
Thanks in advance :slightly_smiling_face: :computer:

To add to the breakage concerns, we aren’t even using the full calendar plugin.
Our customers app used Air calendar and it has a glitch in it now. (to be fair, we did have bubble’s full calendar plugin installed and placed in a group but that group was never loaded/visible)

I’d be interested to know why

  • A new full calendar plugin was not released and this one marked as a legacy one.
  • Or have a bubble release to prevent existing apps breaking.

Thanks
