Rolling Cell Display

I am a bubble newby with a question that maybe someone can help me with or perhaps direct me to the right source for help.

I have a database type called Rotator with a field called, RotatorTitle which will obviously have 1 or more items. On a page titled “bullseye” I want to display the RotatorTitle items rolling from one item to the next with each displaying for about 30 seconds before displaying the next. I currently have them set up in a repeating group I just can’t figure it out how to make it work.

I tried doing it in the workflow by setting the parent group content as a “random item” and then doing a page reset and setting a pause between each display and the next reset. However, it is very clunky and I’m unable to do anything else while it is paused.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey  @jwoodall

Welcome to the Bubble community. There are a bunch of different ways to do this, here is just one example.

You can add a new workflow that triggers every 30 seconds. Just choose “do every 5 seconds” and you can change it to 30. Then it won’t freeze up on you since you won’t need the pause.

If you need me to send you a screen shot, I can do that once I get to my computer.

Hope that helps!

Yes. I would certainly appreciate the extra help. I’ll certainly give it a whirl in the meantime. Thank you so much.

Just to add onto this; in the workflow Do every X seconds. You can put an intro animation and exit animation. like fade in/out make it look nice. and select a random item every time. do a search for rotator and select random item. and display it as text.

Ah-ha! I see now. Thank you so very much. I see now. I’m embarrassed to say that I didn’t even know that these were options. …But, I’ve got it now.

Dont be embarrassed. We are all always learning. everyone started from the same knowledge level at one point. Bubble is pretty great in the diverse things you can accomplish with little to no knowledge of coding. I am still impressed with it 2 years later.

Many thanks for the encouragement. This is definitely an effort worth the investment in time on the front end.
