Severe latency accessing Bubble.io – likely Cloudflare issue in Italy

I’m experiencing severe slowness when accessing https://bubble.io from Italy. Pages take over 20 seconds to load, making the site and the editor barely usable.

Here’s what I have verified so far:

  • My internet connection is fast (345 Mbps down / 14.6 Mbps up), stable, and shows no packet loss.
  • I ran a traceroute to bubble.io (resolving to 104.17.124.183) and got normal latency (around 13 ms to the final hop).
  • However, when I test with the following command:
curl -o /dev/null -s -w "Total time: %{time_total}\n" https://bubble.io

I consistently get 22+ seconds as the response time.

  • I’ve tried from multiple browsers, cleared cache and cookies, and even changed DNS to Google and Cloudflare — the issue persists.
  • When using a VPN with an endpoint outside of Italy (e.g. Germany or UK), the site loads much faster (under 2 seconds).

This leads me to believe there may be an issue with Cloudflare’s edge nodes or routing within Italy, particularly with Fastweb (my ISP).

Can you please investigate whether there is a regional issue affecting Bubble.io’s performance from Italian users, possibly related to Cloudflare’s POPs or caching?

Have you checked the network tab to see if there are any requests that are taken an unusual amount of time?

If that returns no useful info, make a bug report at Contact | Bubble as that’s the best way to reach support, and Fede is on holiday
