Template Nightmare

Here a new user of bubble.

After testing all the application, create my first SPA, and learn a lot of things, I was prepared to try templates.

I gone to templates, I cloned a template, and… my first problem: I don’t want a template in a new project. I want inside of my personal project. In my innocent & happy point of view, was amazing put a good admin panel in my personal project. But the first mistake in my face. It’s impossible.

After that, I selected all the elements of a page in the template, copy with workflow, pasted in my project in a new page, and… nothing. All broken. The plugins not are copied. Second in my face.

After hours trying to put the same plugins (it’s a double nightmare try to understand what plugins are in a project, or select an element and find the real name of the plugin in the info panel, or copy all with one click) was IMPOSSIBLE. Third in my face.

After substitute some plugins with others, i was thinking: OK, now it’s the moment!!! And… nothing! any data in my new page was copied. Nothing works. No database, no options sets was copied. Four in my face.

I don’t followed more. After that it’s clear that bubble it’s not ready for me, or for create serious projects. I don’t know.

You can’t transfer templates into existing projects. That’s like trying to build a foundation after you’ve already built a house on top.

Don’t throw your project away - there are plenty of tutorials and UI kits to create pretty admin panels yourself.

I don’t think that create an admin panel must to follow the same theme that the main website. This not means that you need to bult another project. In fact diferents project in Bubble have an extra cost, and don’t share databases.

Of course I can build something. But why exists templates so? Only like an inspiration? xD

They exist (realistically) for new Bubblers to use as a foundation.

You can just copy and paste it from template to app…with workflows and all. Granted you’re gonna need to change a lot regardless.

Only thing templates are good for are brand new users who don’t realize what they’re getting into and will use it as a foundation and UI components.

9/10 templates on bubble have a massive amount of bloat, bugs, halfway functional, and don’t follow bubble best practices for optimization.
