[Product Enhancement] A new, more scalable settings experience in the editor

Hello! I’m Nick from Bubble’s product team. I’m excited to share an update to the app settings experience in the editor that will be rolling out to all users today.

As Bubble grows to support both web and native mobile app development, we knew it was time to modernize and simplify the settings experience. For many of you, the settings tab has been around for a while. While it has served its purpose, it wasn’t designed for the scale and complexity of today’s apps or the ones you will build in the future.

The new settings layout launching today makes it easier to manage your app. It provides a clearer structure and a more scalable navigation experience, whether you’re building for web, mobile, or both.

What’s changed:

  • A new vertical navigation layout, designed to scale as your app’s complexity grows
  • Clearer groupings for your settings, now organized into general, web app, and native mobile sections
  • A refreshed user interface that aligns with the modern Bubble experience and sets the stage for future improvements

If you’re part of our Bubble Mobile beta, you’ll also notice a new section where you can manage your mobile app settings alongside your web app settings. All users will get access to Bubble Mobile by June, so stay tuned!

We are excited to bring you this new experience and look forward to hearing your feedback!

That’s good cleanup work! Especially the vertical menu makes it so much easier to find what I’m looking for. Thanks @nick.carroll

If I may suggest one quality of life improvement while the code is still hot… having a light grey bar on hover would make it much clearer what menu item I’m interacting with.

As you can see in my mockup, currently the texts and checkboxes are not even aligning, making it even more difficult to tell what text belongs to what checkbox.

Same thing on the API page (and many other places in Bubble btw). At first glance it looks like the first checkbox belongs to “Activity” because it sits closer to that text. A light grey background color on hover would help a lot.

Much better. Could you also either add shading on mouseover or bring these closer together? This is very hard to parse visually. The color variables in the Style tab suffers from the same issue.
